25 weeks

And we're just truckin' right along! In just 2 short weeks, I'll be in the third trimester - wow. It's rather surreal thinking that there's a little person waiting to occupy the empty crib upstairs.

We had our prenatal appointment with the pediatrician this week. She was great! Now we've met 2 out of the 3 doctors, toured their offices, and discussed what to expect from them over the first few weeks. I think they're going to be a perfect fit. And talk about small world - not only is one of the doctors a friend of mine from college, but the doctor that we met actually lives on our street!

Furniture & more shopping

I also found these cute pictures on Art.com that I plan to frame and hang over the dresser:

However until we have our 3D/4D scan next month, we're going to wait to assemble the nursery...we just want a bit more assurance that we're really expecting a little guy!

Organizing makes you hungry!

Today I had off for the MLK holiday and spent part of the day organizing & cleaning our upstairs bedrooms. The baby's room is now totally cleared out and ready for furniture which is coming on Thursday! Yeah, so much for the 10-12 week delivery wait - it's been just 3 weeks! Once we see how everything looks we'll order the recliner or gliding chair (not sure which is going to fit). Charlie is going to come over sometime next month and help Andrew to set up a new closet organizer, which will be nice. And then I need to work on putting together a transparency for the mural (scenes from our bedding). Not to mention continue to organize the other rooms that have now exploded!

That little bit of work seems to have really worked up my appetite - I've been eating like crazy today! I am making better choices, like eating fruit instead of ice cream. Well that's not totally true. I should say eating less ice cream and more fruit...I did eat ice cream twice... LOL!

Great appointment

We had our 23 week appointment with the doctor today and everything seems to be going well. I'm measuring right, gained another 5 pounds (eek!), and his heartbeat is about 150 beats per minute. The next appointment is in a month and I have to do the dreaded 1 hour gestational diabetes test at least a week before. For those of you who don't know what this is, I have to fast for 3-4 hours before the test, drink a cup of this orange-flavored concoction called Glucola and have my blood drawn an hour later. Sounds easy, but I've heard that it can make many people nauseous.

The doctor told me to get as much done over the next 7 weeks as possible (as far as getting the baby's room ready and any other projects around the house) because she expects that I'll be feeling pretty rough again around 30 weeks. We have so much to do in the next 7 weeks...I need to go start a list!

After our next appointment, we will then start going every 2 weeks...and then every week...and then BABY! :)

23 weeks and 9 years

Another week down, 17 (plus or minus) to go! Nick has been moving more and definitely getting stronger every day. It's amazing how much love I feel for this little person that I haven't even met!

In addition to reaching the 23 week mark, today is the 9-year anniversary of when Andrew & I first met. It's so weird to think that I've spent 9 years of my life with this man...yet it feels like we've only been together for such a short time. I have to say, I'm looking forward to all of the ups and downs of the next 9 years with him by my side!

I think it's an octopus...

Little Baby K has been truckin' around all day today! Don't get me wrong - I love every single little movement. But let me tell you, some of his movements make me think that it's actually an octopus in there and not a baby! Andrew & I referred to him as "the lizard" early on, but I think we got our animals wrong.

In other news, shopping with Taitia was VERY successful! We found a great sale at Old Navy so I stocked up on some baby clothes while she got some great work clothes as well as some cute tops for Ashley. AND she bought me a bunch of work clothes from Motherhood!!! Thanks so much, Tash!

Andrew's dad has a procedure tomorrow morning, so your good thoughts for him would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone!!

These are PRACTICE contractions?

So for the past couple of days, I've been experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions which are usually painless "practice" contractions. Yeah. This afternoon I had a couple that were not comfortable at all and ended up coming home from work early to lay down. Then I had 8 not-so-comfortable contractions in an hour (anywhere from 17 minutes apart to 2 minutes apart) along with some pretty yucky cramping. I was thisclose to calling the doctor but thankfully, my dear husband said something that made me angry with him (with these prego hormones, it doesn't take much) and it made me feel better! I stomped around for a few minutes and plopped myself into a recliner to steam...then no more contractions! I've only had one in the last 2.5 hours and it didn't hurt so I think we're doing ok again!

Tomorrow I'm going shopping with Tash for some shoes & clothes - I can't wait!!
