Poor guy...this cold is just hanging on for way too long. We thought he was getting better but he started sounding like a honking goose once again on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. So Daddy took him to the doctor's (which meant that he got to use his daddy diaper bag, which was a hit) and she said that his lungs still sounded clear. Whew. She recommended that we continue to use the aspirator and saline nose drops to keep him draining and to keep him in the papasan at night until this all subsides. If he still has the yellow/green drainage next Thursday, we're to call the doctor for an antibiotic.
Then he wakes up this morning with crusty eyes. I think that it's just cold related and that he'll be fine for the day. But around 10 am, I got a phone call from Lidia (our daycare provider) telling me that it's gradually looking worse as the day is progressing. So I call our doctor and they ask us to come back in. Luckily, they gave us their latest appointment so I was able to go along. The doctor thinks that he now has a blocked tear duct that has become infected. She prescribed an antibiotic ointment (his first medicine, sniff!) that should clear it up within a few days. She did warn us that this could come back and if he continues to have problems, we will need to be seen by a pediatric opthalmologist at 9 months and evaluated for possible surgery. So we went from simple eye infection to possible surgery requiring general anesthetic in a matter of 5 minutes...I felt a little disoriented! Regardless, hopefully everything will resolve on its own and he'll be feeling better soon.
Hopefully we'll have some new pictures for everyone this weekend. We're planning to take a stroller hike with the whole family - Fury too!
Yes!!! I am still here! But moving to a new spot...
